General Information

Thank you for your interest in the 2022 Student Body Elections! The statement of intent form and all general forms for candidates intending to run in the 2022 Student Body Elections are now open. Please read through the details below for more information about running for a Senate or Executive position in the upcoming election.

 

The Student Government Association is the organized voice of the University of Georgia student body and serves as an advocate for the rights, privileges, and concerns of each member of the University of Georgia community. Serving as an elected official in SGA is one of many ways you can have a direct impact on the future success of student life here at the University of Georgia.

Executive Tickets (comprised of a President, Vice President, and Treasurer) are responsible for creating broad initiatives and programs that reflect the desires of student body. Senators are elected to represent the needs and interests of their defined constituency within the University of Georgia student body. You may run for the following positions in the 2022 Student Body Elections:

The Elections Committee shall use the Candidate Seminars to inform potential candidates of all policies within the Elections Code, as well as to distribute the Elections Timeline and to answer any questions potential candidates might have. It is recommended, but not required, that all campaign staff attend the Executive and/or General Candidate Seminar in addition to the candidates.

At the Executive Candidate Seminar, the Elections Committee and the incumbent Student Government Association President, Vice President, and Treasurer shall be responsible for thoroughly informing potential executive candidates of their duties of office. You must register here in advance of the Executive Candidate Seminar in order to be provided with the Zoom information. The Executive Candidate Seminar will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 7:00pm on Zoom.

All potential candidates for Senate are required to attend the General Candidate Seminar prior to the start of the campaigning period. At the General Candidate Seminar, the Elections Committee and incumbent members of the Senate (including, but not limited to, the President of the Senate, the President Pro-Tempore, Senate Committee chairs, or other Senators designated to speak) shall be responsible for thoroughly informing potential candidates of their duties of office. You must register here in advance of the candidate seminar in order to be provided with the Zoom information. General Candidate Seminars will be held on the following dates.

  • Monday, January 17, 2022 at 7:00pm (Zoom)
  • Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 7:00pm (Zoom)
  • Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 7:00pm (Zoom)
